(Fixed) MP Drivers Installation Failed.

Canon MP Drivers are basic printer drivers mainly used for Canon IJ multifunction printers. These drivers are important to print documents on Canon printer. You may have installed Canon IJ multifunction MP printers previously, but if you didn’t update it, you’d soon start seeing issues in the print job.

Unable to Connect the Printer – Installation Stopped

You install MP drivers, and suddenly you get a prompt “Unable to connect the printer” on the Printer Connection installation screen. In this case, the best option is to use a USB cable to connect your printer and system. Let’s see the fix;

  1. If the USB cable is already connected, unplug it.
  2. Make sure you disconnect the USB cable from the system device and printer.
  3. Now, connect one side to the Type-B port on the computer.
  4. Connect the other side to the Canon printer’s rear.
  5. Make sure any printer operation isn’t in progress.
  6. Now, turn off the printer and again turn it on.
  7. Retry the process of MP driver installation.

Windows Error Stopped MP Driver Installation

  1. Exit all the programs currently running on your Windows OS.
  2. From Windows Menu, open Control Panel.
  3. Click Programs and select Programs and Features.
  4. The programs list appears; choose “Canon XXX (your printer model name) MP Drivers” from the given options.
  5. Hit on the “Uninstall” tab and confirm the uninstallation.
  6. Tap on Start and select Yes to confirm the process.
  7. At last, click Complete when the process is finished.

Download and reinstall Canon printer MP drivers

Installing CD-ROM setup may encounter some errors during printing as MP drivers on installation CD could be older. Therefore, it’s best to install the latest drivers for trouble-free functions;   

  1. Go to canon.com/ijsetup site.
  2. Here, choose Set Up from the given options.
  3. Then, enter your Canon printer model name.
  4. You can otherwise select from given models given on the same site. For that, scroll the current page on canon.com/ijsetup site and select the model.
  5. Clicking the model name, you’ll reach on the Download page.
  6. Here, select your OS from the top right of the page.
  7. Now click the “Download” button to start downloading MP drivers for Canon (XXX) printer model.
  8. Double-click to run or right-click when the drivers are downloaded and select Run.
  9. Follow on-screen installation instructions to complete the reinstallation.  

Now restart your system to check whether your Canon printer model functions and features are giving 100% output or not.
